Aspiring Data Engineer & Software Developer

Nairobi, Kenya
Actively Learning & Growing

About Me

I'm an Economics student at Kenyatta University with a growing passion for software development and data science. While I'm honest about being early in my coding journey, I'm committed to learning and improving every day.

My strongest skill is Python, which I've used for data analysis and web scraping projects. I'm comfortable with HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript. I recently gained some real-world experience working with Perl and Node.js at EGA Tech, though it was a challenging learning experience that taught me a lot about the industry.

I believe in transparency and continuous learning. I use AI tools to help me understand complex concepts and build projects, which I see as a modern approach to learning programming. I've also completed virtual experience programs with JP Morgan Chase to gain insights into financial technology.

What I'm looking for: A software engineering or data engineering internship where I can learn from experienced developers, contribute to meaningful projects, and grow my technical skills in a supportive environment.

Work Experience

Junior Developer (Contract)
EGA Tech
2024 (8 months)

My first real development role where I worked on company applications using technologies I was learning on the job.

  • Built applications using Perl and later transitioned to Express/Node.js
  • Learned to work with existing codebases and follow company coding standards
  • Gained experience with version control and collaborative development
  • Developed problem-solving skills working on real business applications
Learning Experience: This role was challenging as I was learning many technologies on the job. While my contract ended due to performance gaps, I gained valuable real-world experience and learned important lessons about professional development that I'm applying to my continued learning.

Learning Projects

Here are some projects I've worked on to practice and learn new concepts:

KEMSA Pharmaceutical Price Prediction

A data science project predicting 2025 pharmaceutical prices for KEMSA using 2017 data. Built with Jupyter Notebooks to analyze supply chain trends and forecast pricing for healthcare procurement.

Python Jupyter Notebook Data Analysis Forecasting

JP Morgan Chase Virtual Experience

Completed JP Morgan Chase's software engineering virtual experience program, working on financial data visualization tasks and learning about fintech applications.

Python Financial Data Data Visualization Fintech

Simple Website Projects

Various HTML/CSS projects including a spec project website. These helped me practice responsive design, layout techniques, and web development fundamentals.

HTML5 CSS3 JavaScript Responsive Design

SQL Learning Projects

Practice projects working with SQL and TSQL to understand database operations and data querying fundamentals.
